Song of the Day: Richard Vission & Static Revenger Starring Luciana - "I Like That"
Tuesday July 14, 2009

Enough of this featuring crap, the "starring" title seems much more appropriate for club siren Luciana. As featured vocalist for Bodyrox, the hits "Yeah Yeah" and "Planet" topped club charts and led to her cheekily titled debut cd
Featuring Luciana. Further tracks with Mark Knight, Super Mal and Martijn ten Velden, have cemented Luciana's spot as an electro vixen who can deliver hot vocals with a great track. Turning her attention stateside, she has teamed up with Richard Vission & Static Revenger for "I Like That." The track seemlessly blends electro, glitch, rock and hiphop elements with an 80s feel that is both nostalgic and futuristic. The video clip captures the frenetic energy, embracing its low budget and making an artistic statement as moving as the beat. Yes, Luciana, we will beat your drum as we bang your track in the club.

Song of the Day: Carmen Reece - "Right Here" (Dave Aude Remix)
Monday July 13, 2009

The Brit School has nurtured the talents of several of my favorite recent female Vocalists - Amy Winehouse, Imogen Heap, and Adele - to name a few. Up next is Carmen Reece, a new discovery by Mark Feist (Destiny's Child "Emotion," and Jennifer Lopez "Love Don't Cost A Thing.") With that kind of pedigree, it's not a surprise that her American debut single "Right Here" is an incredible slice of r&b pop. Carmen has an incredible voice that soars about the contemporary electro/urban styled production. The vocals also translate well to the clubs thanks to remixes by Jason Nevins, DJ Escape & Tony Coluccio, and our preference Dave Aude. Watch out for Carmen's debut CD
Love in Stereo which will be released later this year.

Song of the Day: Sound Selektaz & Karen Danzig - "La La La La La"
Friday July 10, 2009

The song starts slow and pretty with Karen Danzig's angelic voice singing lovely. At 30 seconds, the beat kicks in and its the hardstep europop beat banging you at 140 plus bpm. As cheesy as it might be to the critics and the underground, the song is energetic and fun. Sure the lyrics are cliche but isn't pop music supposed to be fun - and isn't dance music supposed to make you want to dance? In those two regards, "La La La La La" succeeds as a fun pop dance record to keep you moving this summer.

If you like it old skool, you will have made love the analog flavor of Vinyl Life. Who else would release their latest project on vinyl and cassette BEFORE CD and digital. If you dug
"Innovation" and
"Future Beat," this new mashup with the classic Kraftwerk track will be right up your alley. The rap vocals are NSFW but its a free download, so check it out below.
