Madonna Goes Digital to Fight Piracy

What's a superstar to do when her music is leaked and illegally downloaded before it is released? If you are Madonna, you fight fire with fire. Remixes of the clubland icon's new single "Miles Away" leaked onto the internet even before DJ promos were sent out. With rapid speed, Warner Brothers Records, Madonna's current label, released remixes of "Miles Away" for digital download through Masterbeat.com. Downloads were available for sale within 24 hours and Masterbeat is the only digital download retailer which will offer them as cd quality WAV files.

Yeah, but I wonder who actually bought them. Masterbeat has crazy high prices for their downloads. (Compared to say, Amazon, which is 99 cents a track.)

Thanks for the tip DJ Ron! I downloaded the remixes – LOVE them! So cool that Masterbeat offers WAV files – YAY! their prices were 99 cents- the same as iTunes and Amazon except on exclusives…i’m not thrilled but it’s life and you pay to have it first!
