Not every song is instant and sometimes it takes a while for it to grow on you. With a song titled "Lagerfeld Lady," maybe the best way to describe it is like a perfume. The top notes are the first impression - moody, almost emo-rock electronica. The middle notes are subtle flavors of flamboyant voguing and hooks similar to Ida Corr's "Let Me Think About It." The dry-down or base notes would be the almost melancholic sentiment of instant attraction quickly followed by reality of unattainable love. After a couple of listens, the song will grow on you (like a lingering pleasant scent) as will the rest of the tracks on the debut CD from Fritz Helder and The Phantoms. Though they are some quirky bits, its easy to see why Nelly Furtado signed this new wave eletcro act to her label.
