This is one that I have been meaning to write for awhile and after seeing her amazing performance at Play Dance Bar last night, I knew it was time. Melinda Doolittle is best known as the third place finalist on the sixth season of American Idol who even Simon Cowell thought should have won. Her debut cd Coming Back to You was released on HiFi recordings and the lead single "It's Your Love" made the Adult Contemporary chart.
Knowing that the clubs always love a strong voice singing beautiful lyrics, her A&R people wisely enlisted the talents of Jason Nevins, Mike Rizzo and John Suraci (Smashmode) to remix "It's Your Love" for club consumption. The results are as impressive as you might imagine. Jason's mix is perfect for dance radio and club DJs are warming up to Mike Rizzo's mix. The Smashmode mix is quite good as well. But when you have such a great song and vocal performance to work with, it's almost difficult to do a bad remix.
Speaking of great vocal performances, seeing Melinda live really brought the point home. She got the crowd to sing along, dance with her, and even to part down the middle for her to sing to all the ladies. Melinda worked the crowd like the true entertainer that she is - making the night memorable for everyone in attendance. Clubs looking for an entertainer that lives up to the name American Idol should definitely book Melinda Doolittle.

American Idol is a great platform for the new artists to prove themselves as perfectly done by Melinda Doolittle. Her song “It’s Your Love” working for her. It is a nice song and definitely deserved to be the song of the day. Hope the song will make her the adult contemporary artist of the year.
