Aussie duo the Bag Raiders enlist "Symphonies" singer Dan Black for their follow up to the amazing 2010 single "Shooting Stars". "Sunlight" is the second track from their self-titled album, and has a messy and entrancing house vibe to it, chock full of dazzles and zings and bams and booms. Dan Black somehow finds purchase on top of all of this to do what he does best: sing his little heart out. "Sunlight" sounds just as good mixed, as Ashton shows us in the hip re-imagining of the track in a bassy, clubby house party style, albeit far dubbier with Black's vocals being chopped up for effect and not to convey anything to actually sing with. Black's vocals are in-tact on the GLOVES remix, another bouncy house mix that tones down the messiness of the original and hearkens back to the happiness of 2003's house scene. But nothing can detract from the Daft Punk vibe that Bag Raiders tend to carry in their music. And while the retro 90's feel was far more prevalent in "Shooting Stars", "Sunlight" has that feelgood groove that Daft Punk did so well on Discovery. Rumor has it that Bag Raiders are dropping their self-titled in the states this year. With tracks like "Sunlight", there's no reason not to hope these rumors come true.
