Medina rocked is hardcore with "You & Me", the Deadmau5 remix becoming a staple for many casual listeners and DJs alike. And with "Gutter", she aims for that distinction again. The song is painful, lyrically, due to the amount of hardships she describes within. She was abused in many ways and that heartbreak comes out through every beat and every syllable of Medina's vocals. The original is somber and even though it is definitely four-to-the-floor, it lacks that insistence of tracks that need to be danced to. Instead the beats of the original seem almost out of place, like we shouldn't be enjoying her pain this much. Blank & Jones, a duo known for their trance, give us a spry and bouncy house remix that is both fun and funky but misses the emotional mark no matter how good Medina sounds over it. The drive in Gabriel Schwarz's remix is incredible, despite the 3-minute length, and it DOES demand you to dance. Meanwhile Svenstrup & Vendelboe stick with the deep and depressive vibe of the original, amping it up enough that the crowd could keep on dancing to the Dutch-esque breakdowns. All in all this track and it's remixes are excellent and Medina scores another hit.
