Talk about a mistitled song. Yawn is an energetic electrostomper by Kid Massive with assistance by Sam Obernik. Very much in the Dragonette/Luciana mold, Sam's quirky and unique voice ("It Just Won't Do" by TimDeluxe is a club classic) fits perfectly with the stutter beats and retrotechno/breakbeat dops. She definitely is bringing her A game, though the same can't really be said about Jay Colin who has a well written verse but lacks the unique delivery/personality that he brought to his previous work ("Let's Rock" by Roy Gates.) Then again trying to compete with Sam for uniqueness would be a challenge for just about any rapper. The video is a low budget yet frenetically enticing colorful experience that's also in the mold of Luciana's recent videos. Yes, its not breaking any major new ground but its definitely a club smash that would sound great on the radio. Sidenote, this may sound odd but this is the first time I have ever seen Kid Massive in public not wearing a t-shirt with his name on it.
