Mike Rizzo Interview

Wednesday August 27, 2008
With mixshows on XM, Pulse 87, Music Choice, and iPartyRadio, Mike Rizzo's skills for finding and breaking dance records drive the energy of his mixes. In 2008, Mike has rebooted his career with a string of high profile remixes (Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Danity Kane, and Usher) and a new A&R position for startup label NY2London records. Who knows what's next for the family guy from Jersey?

Cut Copy Interview

Tuesday August 26, 2008
Together with The Presets, Cut Copy are leading the charge for Australian label Modular Recordings in the US. The group worked with DFA mastermind Tim Goldsworthy to construct their latest CD In Ghost Colours, a blend of guitars and electronic beats with a new wave feel inspired as much by My Bloody Valentine as ELO. Debuting at number one in Australia and spawning the hit singles "Hearts on Fire" and "Lights and Music" the CD In Ghost Colours simply has not left my CD player all summer.

Thursday August 21, 2008
San Francisco based duo Fans of Jimmy Century are buzzing with a Garbage meets electro vibe. Don't be surprised if they sound familiar - FOJC's music has been featured in Ugly Betty and The L Word. Check out the single review and watch the video for for "Hot Sahara" in the listening booth. Definitely a band to watch.

Panels, exhibits, parties, meals, wrestlers and random porn starlets - that is one way of summarizing the second day International DJ Expo. What happens in Atlantic City doesn't stay in Atlantic City...

Martijn ten Velden Interview

Thursday August 14, 2008
Martijn ten Velden is touring the US for the very first time. Though this is definitely not the first time you have heard of him. Paired with Mark Knight, the team pumped out over fifty remixes over a short 3 year period for everyone from Steve Lawler and Shapeshifters to Natasha Bedingfield. Going solo, Martijn released a hugely successful Toolroom Knight mixed compilation and continues to produce and remix extensively. Will his recent move from UK to Dubai change his sound?

Day 1 of the DJ Times International DJ Expo in Atlantic City was full of panels, networking, parties, meals, interviews and a lot more. Since DJs often follow charts to find the hottest new music - here is my top 10 for Monday.

International DJ Expo 2008 - Pre-opening Day Wrapup

Monday August 11, 2008
Aending my first International DJ Expo, I decided to come in a day early to explore Atlantic City. Looking around the plane from Orlando, I noticed a lot of the Promo Only crew making the journey as well. Even though the conference doesn't start until tomorrow - I have already learned and heard so many things.

Tami Chynn Interview

Sunday August 10, 2008
With her new CD, Jamaican artist Tami Chynn makes the bold move from reggae to pop. Aided by producers Red One and Akon, she has crafted a unique synthesis of R&B/pop that you can dance to while keeping her message intact. With remixes of the lead single "Frozen" by Mark Picchiotti and Ralphi Rosario and a performance at the International DJ Expo in Atlantic City, Tami is definitely ready to make us dance.
