Dance Music Hall of Fame Announced

The formation of the Dance Music Hall of Fame was announced last week in New York.

The organization will hold annual events to "recognize the contributions of those who have had a significant impact on the evolution and development of dance music and will celebrate the history and significance of dance music." Artists and industry will be inductable 25 years after their initial release or contribution based on the criteria of influence and significance of their work.

Nominees each year in the following categories - Performer, Producer, Record, Remixer, and DJ will be selected each year by the nominating committee and Board of Advisors and then sent to the 1,000 plus international voting committee of dance music experts. The first inductees which will include three performers, three records, one producer, one remixer and one DJ will take place at a formal dinner in New York City in the Spring of 2004.
