David Guetta - "Sexy Chick" - Courtesy of Capitol
David Guetta is having a big year. Coming off the success of international smash "Love is Gone," he produced the hit Black Eyed Peas'
single "I Gotta Feeling" and released his album One Love which features the hit single "When Love Takes Over" with Kelly Rowland and
this new single "Sexy Chick" with Akon. David's electro house beats are as playful as Akon's ode to beautiful woman. Released in two
versions, the club ready "Sexy Bitch" and the edited cleaner "Sexy Chick," the Not Safe for Work video is the imagined day in the life
of a superstar DJ with gorgeous women poolside before a massive club gig. While it is reminiscent of the often mysogynistic and
materialistic videos for rap songs, its quite refreshing for a dance artist to be living the life.

Daddy's Favourite - "I Feel Good Things For You '09 (Geoff M 09 Edit)" - Courtesy of Superecordings
Released back in 1998, "I Feel Good Things For You" is a filtered discohouse version of disco classic "Haven't You Heard" by Patricia
Rushen. Released around the same time as several other disco-sampling house records like Armand van Helden's "U Don't Know Me" and
Stardust "Music Sounds Better With You," the track is updated for 2009 with new remixes by Geoff M, Alan Braxe and Nicola Fasono & Steve
Forrest. With all these reissues of 10 year old house tracks, you have to wonder what will be next.

Dan Black - "Symphonies" - Courtesy of Polydor
Planet Funk vocalist ("Lemonade") is best known for "HYPNTZ," his version of Notorious BIG's "Hypnotize" sung over the beats from
Rihanna's "Umbrella." For "Symphonies," Dan once again borrows the beats from "Umbrella" and adds some beautiful symphonic melodies
which support his emotional vocal delivery. The video is quite a gorgeous mashup of movie imagery and promos.

Steed Lord - "New Crack City" - Courtesy of New Crack City Records
Listening to this track, I am imagining a movie promo. It sounds like movie soundtrack music with filthy electro beats and dialogue
samples almost like a track from vintage My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult (and that's a compliment.) The Icelandic quartet are
darlings of the electro / nuRave scene - with support from Steve Aoki. Their new CD Truth Serum features a remix disc with rerubs from
Lazrtag, Jack Beats, Crookers and more. Defintiely a group worth watching.

Kelpe - "Microscope Contents" - Courtesy of DC Recordings
Kelpe previews his new CD 'Cambio Weschel' with Microscope Contents, a glitchy electro track with some nice breaks and builds. You can
sense the hip hop elements yet they are not overt though the use of video game noises is quite special. The video is a kaleidoscopic
journey of the microscopic contents of peoples' mouth - defintiely an interesting visualization to imagine when listening to tracks like
this.

Fever Ray - "Seven" - Courtesy of Mute
Half of the duo The Knife, vocalist Karin Dreijer Andersson releases the fourth single from her Fever Ray cd. A gorgeously haunting
midtempo electronic track, "Seven" is both bare and full of emotion reminiscent of classic 4AD releases. A variety of remixes by CSS,
Seth Troxler, Crookers, Nic Chacona and Marcel Dettmann take the track in many different directions. The video is set in a barn with an
aged version of Karin dancing with the animals. Not really sure what the video has to do with the song but it is definitely a unique
vision.
