JUNIOR JACK featuring ROBERT SMITH - Da Hype - Junior Jack's back with another filtered house treat. Originally out a few months ago as an instrumental, it's built around a 2-bar loop that sounds familiar but has been morphed enough to sound new. Then, he went back in the studio and had Robert Smith (of The Cure) throw some vocals on top. Bingo! Instant hit.
BRIAN CRITZMAN - Lost In The Musik - Hard and driving circuit pumper. Drum rolls, crashes, squiggly synths and (I'm told) vocal samples of Eminem. Pumps my tits!
THE CRYSTAL METHOD - Born Too Slow (Deepsky) - Another hard and dark one. Funky percussion, guitars and some guy groaning. Just like a trip to the bathhouse, umm...except for the percussion and guitars. Trippy with an edge.
TEKARA featuring XAN - Wanna Be An Angel - You don't see alot of trance reviewed here because, frankly, I think most of it's crap. But every now and then, a track comes along that makes my hair stand on end. This is one of those tracks. Simple, beautiful vocals and gorgeous, layered synths. My God, it's full of stars!
CELIA CRUZ - Bemba Colora (Guiseppe D) - Possibly the greatest vocalist to come out Cuba, Ms Cruz passed away last year to the sorrow of millions of fans around the world. Universal Latino has released a 13 track CD entitled "Classic Hits Remixed" and Bemba Colora is just one of the treats in this package. A must have for fans of Ms Cruz and latin music in general.
ORIGENE - Sanctuary - Deep and trippy prog house. Sounds awesome on a big system! (This month's Spotlight Track)
MIDNIGHT SOCIETY featuring ALAN T - Jungle Juice (Curtis Atcheson) - Midnight Society get Alan T to do the vocals and Curtis Atcheson to do the remix. Quirky but brilliant.
JAMIESON - Take Control (Lee Cabrera) - Already doing the business in the UK, big time. Kinda sounds like Kid Creole & The Coconuts on downers. Lee Cabrera works the latin vibe to perfection. Hypnotic.
ASTRID SURYANTO - Rainwater (Victor Calderone) - Now that I think of it, I don't know why Victor Calderone isn't called on to do more of this style of remix; he's obviously got the gift. Trippy prog house with his trademark wall of percussion.
BRITNEY SPEARS - Toxic (Armand Van Helden)/Breathe On Me (Junior Vasquez) - Two new tracks from Ms Spears. Van Helden's mix of Toxic is a loop and synth driven monster. Junior turns out another epic journey for Breathe On Me.
