Mixes That Matter - November

From Paul Grace, for About.com

ARTIST - Title (Remixer)

ANNIE LENNOX - A 1000 Beautiful Things (Peter Rauhofer's Beautiful Strings Mix) - This is absolutely breath-taking. Starts with synth stabs and then layers of strings over a driving percussion track. And then...Ms Lennox. Her vocals are flawless. This as close as to tantric sex as you can get using just your ears.

CORNY presents OPHELIA - Looosing My Mind - If you liked "Hide U" by Kosheen and "Rapture" by Iio, you're gonna love this. This Danish group deliver a dreamy yet driving ode to frustration. Close your eyes and looose yourself in the trip.

ANTECK - Adrenalin (L Pautrat Doze Mix) - Antoine Clamaran assumes the moniker of Anteck to deliver a cross between filtered acid house and circuit monster. The bassline drills into your head until you think it will explode...and then it does. Expect serious mental damage on the dancefloor.

BEYONCE featuring SEAN PAUL - Baby Boy (Junior Vasquez Club Anthem Remix) - Speaking of acid house, Junior starts this track off with a squiggly line from a TB 303. For those of you who don't know what a TB 303 is, it's a pre MIDI bass machine. For those of you who don't know what MIDI is...Oh, forget it. Another Junior gem.

DIDO - White Flag (The Scumfrog) - The Scumfrog is back with another of his quirky yet infectious mixes.Though his treatment doesn't quite convey the dreamy romanticism of the original, it still does the business. Lo-fi loveliness.

HARDLINE - J'adore (Peter Bailey/Mike Macaluso) - The vocals in this are limited to some guy telling us how much he likes his music. However, in this case it's warranted...I love his music, too. Especially the Peter Bailey Mix. Dark, driving and intense.

FULL INTENTION - Forever - Built around Michael Jackson's "Rock With You", this filtered house masterpiece is already making huge waves in Europe. The bassline drives the track while the filtered vocal breaks relieve the tension until the bassline kicks in again. Very large.

LONDON 909 - Sex Drums & Alcohol - Just in case you forgot why you went out. Driving tribal beats, dark synths and spooky vocals. I love it!

PETER RAUHOFER - This Is My House (Peter's Roxy Mix) - Big aggressive circuit monster. Driving synths with lots of drum rolls and drama. Vocals that remind me of the early house classics. Past + present = future.

MARCO V - C:Del*.Mp3 - Yes, that's actually the title to this tech monster. This peaktime floor-filler is huge for Junior right now. Pulsating synth madness!
