RS: Talking about the studio, what are your favorite pieces of gear and what software do you use in the studio, on your productions?
Ali: We use Cubase when we're switching over to Logic.
RS: A familiar story.
Ali: But we tend to do a lot of stuff, obviously like a lot of other people are doing. We tend do to a lot of stuff like just within the confines of the computer as opposed to doing a lot of midi programming, which we don't use much anymore. We spend so much time on the road that we're able to go through sounds and isolate sounds, isolate samples for the next time that we're in the studio. So I would say our most essential and favorite piece of gear is the computer, both our laptops and our studio computer.
RS: Of all your remixes, is there one remix are you most proud of?
Ali: There's so many it's like picking your favorite child. Yes, Sharam I'm sure would have a different feeding. Just recently, I think Timo Maas mixed it up and I was pretty proud of the end result.
RS: Who are some of your favorite remixers?
Ali: Oh we like everybody. Timo Maas like I mentioned, Luke Fair, Sander Kleinenberg, Sasha, Masters at Work, so many people.
RS: Any thoughts on the evolution of the music industry as we know it? Any advice for young house/electronic artists today?
Ali: Just basically like I've always said, strive to be different and believe in your abilities and learn about the craft.
RS: After twelve years together - does it feel like you two are married?
Ali: Yes, it's felt that way from day one actually.
RS: What do you listen to when you are not spinning?
Ali: I like a lot of rock, hip-hop, jazz, R&B. Pretty much anything but dance music.
RS: And what was the first record you ever bought?
Ali: The first record I ever bought was by a group names Ultravox, it was called The Collection, and it was basically a collection of their hits at the time.
RS: One last question - what are your biggest records right now in the clubs?
Ali: There's a kind of funk remix of the new Kosheen single which is on the B side.
RS: The All In My Head song?
Ali: Yes, All In My Mind I think it's called. Wow, I'm drawing a blank here. There's just tons of really great music.
