Though Giovanna is now performing at big clubs around the country like Excalibur in Chicago, she started performing at the young age at 10 doing talent shows and performing pop standards at weddings in her hometown of Detroit. Growing up listening to a "mixture of dance, r&b and pop" including the music of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and current favorite Alicia Keys, she started working with local DJs and was discovered by Act 2 Records from the DJ website.
Ron Hirsch, owner of Act 2 Records, said "the first time I heard her voice it was overwhelming and I had no idea she had such a great look." When asked about being signed to the new label, Giovanna says she is excited because "it was a big opportunity for me" and that she likes ACT 2 because it is "on a personal level with me as an artist and I feel comfortable to be myself."
"You Got Me" has been serviced to clubs around the country with remixes by Giuseppe D, Charlie Rosario and Giovanna's personal favorite "Georgie" mix (the Georgie Porgie remix). The song is getting good responses from radio mixshow DJs around the country. Mixshow promoter Harry Towers says that "mixshow DJs at stations around the country are playing the record, especially Giuseppe D's mix and are excited about the new remixes coming."
When asked about her future, Giovanna says she hopes to duet with Mariah Carey because "her voice is the best!" and that her biggest goal is to go platinum. Hirsch adds "her future is up to her because she is a great live performer who can dance and has so much natural talent, we (ACT 2) will go whereever she leads us."
