Interview with Jonathan Peters

by Dave "the Wave" Dresden

From

More recently, Peters spent the last month working on his masterpiece remix, "Life In Mono" by the UK trip hop band Mono. "I just loved the song." he states with a feeling of emotional attachment. So he took his time and created an immaculate 14 minute interpretation of a song which in other hands, might not have sounded as good. With the original bpm being around 85, Peters painstakingly timestretched the whole vocal and created a track as urgent as the song was. In his dub mix, he goes for the jugular with a hard hitting acidic builder that must wreak some serious havoc on the Sound Factory dance floor. Peters is planning to take the next month to re-construct the Jackson Five's "I Want You Back" which is being re-released due to the Motown 40 compilation. Sitting there listening to the raw acapella of the original, Peters knows he's about to mess with history, but seeing that he's been fearless up to now, we're sure he'll master this task just as easily.
