Q: After the endless opera trance records of the past couple of years, what made you decide to take an aria and Murkify it, as you do on your track "Opera"?
RF: The word "House" has never signified a specific type of music for us. It just means cutting edge underground tracks that work in the clubs. We had this opera vocal and we couldn't resist slamming on some beats and bass on it.
Q: The Got Murk? Shirts are priceless. Whose idea was that?
OG: That was Victor Lee's idea at Tommy Boy.
Q: How have you been affected both by the practice of downloading music and by labels' shelving of mixes?
RF: Well, the downloading part has been devastating for us. It has pretty much slashed our sales in half. As far as shelving our mixes, (it) hasn't affected us much.
OG: The downloading phenomenon has definitely taken its toll on dance music
I think until the damage is drastic people won't realize how harmful it is. Unfortunately I really believe it will get worse before it gets better.
Q: Your sound has been emblematic of the Miami vibe for over a decade now. Have you ever encountered or thought about collaborating with Miami bass icon Luke (Luther Campbell)? Just as a meeting of the Miami sounds kind of thing?
RF: I'd never really thought about it. It seems like that kind of music exists in a parallel reality. It's been part of our lives for years but at the same time, not really.
OG: In a word- NO.
Q: How does it affect you when you hear your music in films or on the radio?
RF: It's a good feeling.
OG: You never get used to that
It is always exciting to hear your song on the radio, and I love to see our songs add to a movie, it's a cool fusion of art-forms
Q: What's next for Murk?
RF: Next would be the re-launching of our label. It's been years since we released anything on Murk. It's time again and we're excited about the whole thing. Hopefully it will be as big as a success as before.
OG: We are touring (pretty much everywhere) in support of this album, as well as several remixing projects
NO SLEEP FOR US!!!
