Could he be the next Rick Astley? Jumping into the dance scene with original pop dance songs and Hi-NRG covers, Kenne is working with established (Phil Harding, Doug Laurent) and up-and-coming (ToMo, DJ Rico) producers to create wonderful dance music.

DJ Ron Slomowicz: So how did you get Doug Laurent on the projects?
Kenne: I sent him my demo tape from my home and I didn't expect him to answer but he got the package and he sent me an eMail, and he said he was interested in working with me, I just needed the right song. Instead of telling me what to do, like 'you need to find songwriting partners and take as many classes as you can,' he said, 'here are a bunch of tracks, come up with the lyrics to them,' which I did. I sent them to him and he said he loved it, let's do it. That's how my first single, You Can Dance, came about, and after that we did True Faith, which was my idea, and then we wrote "This Is Your Night" together.

RS: So did you actually every go into the studio with him or is it all done over the Internet?
Kenne: Actually, it was all done over the Internet. The power of the Internet is amazing and that's also how I got to meet Phil Harding, who also produced some of my songs, but we actually went into the studio to do that, face-to-face.

RS: Is this Phil Harding of Harding and Curnow and PWL?
Kenne: Yes.

RS: Oh my God, they're like dance music history legends.
Kenne: I know, I was in total awe. I was looking at him from the booth and I was flabbergasted. It was amazing. He's a really nice guy and very down to earth.

RS: I mean, they were the engineers for Stock, Aitken and Waterman.
Kenne: Exactly and he was comparing the way I record to Kylie Minogue, Rick Astley and Jason Donovan, and I'm like wow. So we got to go into a real studio with that one and he was, he was absolutely excellent.

RS: Where was this that you went into the studio with him, what city?
Kenne: It was in Miami. I also met him in London and he wasn't with his partner Ian though, Ian Curnow, they're not producing together as much. So he basically did this with a new producer named John MacDonald, and they wanted some new sound for the new millennium and I had Doug Laurent remix it, so we'll see how it goes.

RS: And you also did a video for this too. What was that like, making the video?
Kenne: It was great, my first video. It was very, very exciting. We shot it on the street of Fort Lauderdale and I got to be a star for a while, it was really cool.

RS: What was the storyline in the video?
Kenne: Actually, it's about two girls getting ready to go out to a club and showing, sights of the evening, of the night, and me as dispersed in-between everything, just walking or signing the lyrics to the song and enjoying the nighttime.

RS: Have you heard your song on the radio or in a club yet?
Kenne: Yes. I heard in on 93.1, they played it once. I don't know if they're going to add it though, but they played it once and I think I was too shocked to let it penetrate. I heard "This Is Your Night" in a club in New York and it was absolutely surreal- I'm like well, that's not me. Then, in Abercrombie & Fitch, I heard my other song True Faith, which a music company called DMX Music actually put that one out for the retail stores thanks to Randy Schlager. He's a great guy and he just took a total chance on me and he programmed it for Abercrombie & Fitch, and You Can Dance as well. I went into the Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island, and I actually heard this song. It was right after Madonna and that was a really big thrill for me, for an independent artist to be in the ranks of Madonna or Kylie Minogue and to see myself on mixshow charts such as yours, right next to Olivia Newton-John... She's my idol.

RS: So, what's next for you? Can you say what's coming out now, or is it out now?
Kenne: I'm looking for distribution actually on it, so my fingers are crossed on that one. If not this single, then another one. I have an offer to do a remake of another classic rock song, and that would actually be done in England, yes.

RS: Is that with the producer?
Kenne: It's not with Phil Harding but it's with an up-and-coming producer called ToMo, who did remixes for me for True Faith and This Is Your Night.

RS: That's great. What's your web site address?
Kenne: It's www.kenneonline.com.

RS: What do you want to say to all to all the people out there who's reading this?
Kenne: Thank you so much for reading it and for reading dancemusic.about.com. I hope that you find this interesting and you learn a little bit more about me and enjoy my music.
