Emm: You have a lot of songs about women and you have become known as a kind of casanova, playboy, sex symbol-type in the underground music scene, how do you feel about that?
VD: It's cool and it's fun. I definitely enjoy females. I think women are my inspiration for making music. i've had great women in my life, from my grandmother, to my mother on down. I've also had some really dark experiences with women, but I haven't let that distort my overall perspective of how I enjoy being with women. I find the energy of females beautiful, and I write songs for the perfect woman in my mind. That's my inspiration for creating music, but it's not about being a playboy. I've never had problems meeting women. so that's not what my life is all about. It's really about making a product that feels good to everyone and watching people enjoy it. When I DJ, I play for the ladies because if I play for guys, there's a tendency for people not to dance and there's a lot of headnoddin'. That's okay but i'd much rather see a bunch of ladies in the middle of the dancefloor having a great time.

Emm: Who are some of your favorite artists to work with?
VD: The tough part about that question is that there's something special about everyone. What I get most out of it is watching the energy that certain artists have. For example, Erykah Badu has an unlimited energy. I think part of her success is that she has incredible drive. Seeing that inspired me to go after my dreams the way she does. I'm always around creative people, so I don't like to say I like one more than another because they are all very special. Pretty much every time we go into the studio there's a wonderful collaboration of talent and energy that's really inspiring. I get to work with some of the best all the time.

Emm: Is there anyone you want to work with in future?
VD: Nobody off the top of my head. I don't really think about it that way. I kind of work with people as opportunities come along I don't' have a grand plan or target people to come after. Right now, if they want to work with us, if they want to work with me I'm open to it. I'm happy being a fan as well.
