Nobody Listens To Techno was inspired by the line from EMINEMs Without Me and like most songs that are rebuttals, they are only as relevant as the song they are answering to. History shows that sonic battles are tedious and sometimes end in death. But in the world of electronic music, people generally just want to get along so thats why the creation of this song is more than enough said on this topic. According to label Radikal, Base Attack did not sample EMINEM for this like Drunkenmunky did on their more inspired song E in which they use both the melody from Without Me and Ems actual voice.
This is a techno song through and through evoking memories of L.A. Style and 2unlimited. It would work if it were sandwiched in new remixed versions of Im Raving or Get Ready For This. On its own (and off the dance floor), its pretty underwhelming. Of the four versions on this Maxi-Single the Flashrider Remix is the best and conjures up memories of raves gone by. The remix includes crowd noise so you can turn it up, close your eyes and take a trip back to 1994. Its only good unless you like old-skool techno.
If you dont, you probably find it annoying. One thing I must say is that the effect of listening to techno while someone screams nobody listens to techno over and over again made me feel like a nobody. It would be like Britney Spears singing Dont listen to me/I know nothing of what I sing/Dont listen to me/Im a manufactured pop icon
again.
