Boogie Pimps - Somebody to Love

Ministry of Sound / Data
Put the Pot Brownies down folks, this isn’t a misprint. The classic anthem of the 60’s by Jefferson Airplane gets a 21st Century makeover that’s ready to explode. Now some of you may or may not be aware, but in early 2003 the Boogie Pimps released this track under the title “Saltshaker” under the Superstar label which contained the original vocal. The “Saltshaker” track also contains snippets of a guy talking about drugs, which made some of us edit or use extreme caution when programming our mixshows. On this rendition of this track, gone is the drug talking elements. Keeping only the true meat of the track. However, on this release the original vocal by Jefferson Airplane is not used. At the time of writing this I was unable to track down the name of the vocalist they used. The major difference in the two tracks is the original “Saltshaker” track contained more power with the original Jefferson Airplane vocal while this one tones it down a notch and makes a little more laid back. You’re not gonna get the best of both worlds here but it’s still a great track that will produce more remixes and remakes in the near future and has already stretched out it’s longevity to more than a year
