Eleven classic tracks of breaks, house & cut-up beats, presented in
chronological order, including the early masterpieces "Song To The Siren" and "Chemical Beats," plus the monster hit & Grammy winner "Block Rockin' Beats" and more, topped off with two new tracks. That's not a bad greatest hits package, especially when the last cut on the disc, "The Golden Path" is a collaboration with The Flaming Lips that's sure to become a minor classic in its own right. So if you have the single disc version, you've got a nice slice from one of the most influential and innovative groups to come out of the 90s' electronic scene.
But anyone who cares about that scene in anything more than the most casual way will want the two-disc set. Formerly rare tracks like "If You Kling To Me I'll Klong To You" and "Morning Lemon", the signature cut "Loops Of Fury" plus previously unreleased cuts ("The Duke", "Electrobank (live)") make the limited edition the only way to go.
So if you're a fan, it's nice to have some new stuff and some of the old stuff all in one place. But like any greatest hits package, if you're new to the band and you dig it, you really owe it to your self to try the original Chemicals as well.
