Chris Liberator - CL03

DEMF is the first thing that comes to mind from the new release by the ever popular techno syndicate Trustthedj.com. Chis Liberator’s third set CL03 is definitely a hard-pounding, in-your-face underground techno set mixed on the fly with all the enthusiasm of a live party mix. The mixes are real and not studio perfect so you can hear them develop from the beginning.

CL:03 starts off with a little Latin flavor and moves on to a harder acid techno sound. The Latin techno starts off with a track by Simon Digby called “Fiesta Del Sol”. It has a wonderful break into a Cuban sounding horn section with beautifully crafted Spanish vocals. The hard stuff starts with everyone’s favorite Italian (excluding myself) techno producer Mauro Picotto. This track “Alchemist” is co-produced with Riccardo Ferri. This track is a lighter than further into the CD but is a great choice of a transitional song. It is definitely what you would expect from an Italian techno master.

Closer to the end of the CD there is a great track that I listened to over and over again. Carbine – “Funky Old Cortina” is an awesome track. It contains samples from Tone Loc – “Funky Cold Medina” (go figure) laid over a sick techno beat, almost like a Josh Wink inspired bass line. This track would really get‘em going on the dance floor.

This latest installment in the Trust the DJ series is definitely a CD that will get you pumped up for DEMF (Detroit Electronic Music Festival) or any other hard pounding techno festival. Techno fans be on the look out for Chris Liberator and any Trust the DJ album to rock you and your pals all night.
