Imagine the haunting voice of Dido mixed with upbeat electronic production and a latin twist; that's the best way to describe Fase. Based on Virus Records out of Mexico, Universal has picked up the trio of Alma Velasco and Peter and Hans Warner. Alma's wonderfully sweet and enchanting voice is the highlight of many tracks including "Gente" and "Tania." The former has a very appealing folksy sound while the latter is more melancholy and plaintive.

Multi-format remixes and a cutting-edge animated video are quite compelling and should start the story on this compelling debut album. Fans of Portishead and Everything but the Girl should check out Fase's tropical-flavored electronica debut.
