Through the use of a variety of musical styles, the songs paint the canvas for new memories. With effected/stuttered vocals on "Auld Lang Syne" and "Lil' Drummer Boy," the grooves set the holiday mood. The comparatively aggressive euro-NRG feel of "Reindeer" and "Holiday Across the World" seem out of place at first since they feature full vocals and are very energetic, in contrast to the more subtle jazzy grooves ("O Tannenbaum") and minimalist tracks ("Ask Yourself" and "Winter Wait") that comprise most of the CD. The piano house "Winter Wonderland" and latin-flavored "Los Peces en el Rio" both stand out as personal favorites.
Holidays Remixed reminds me of those movie soundtrack albums that say "Music From and Inspired By" because the songs aren't traditional holiday records, rather subtly-nuanced tracks that allow you to form your own holidays memories.
