More filth from Belgium's biggest hitmakers of the past decade, this compilation is simply moist with sex, drugs, and subversive intent. All of the Lords' hits are here, from the early New Beat ("I Sit on Acid") and techno hits ("Take Control," "Rough Sex"), industrial efforts ("Crablouse," "Do What You Wanna Do"), tracks made big by the movies ("Am I Sexy?" from Austin Powers, "The Most Wonderful Girl" from Sliver), and three new tracks that are actually a lot more promising than many of their singles have been as of late.
"I Sit On Acid" is still a phenomenon to experience today, its synth-drone and rumbling bass representing club music as sex in shorthand for millions the world over since its initial release fifteen years ago. Many times remixed since then, but nothing compares to the still-potent assault of that track. The early techno stuff sounds great as well (though the absence of "Let's Get High" seems criminal to me), and it's nice to get all the more recent singles compiled in one place, as I confess I had grown away from the Lords after Voodoo-U. That, however, is not the case anymore, as the three new tracks are musically delicious.
Oliver, Praga, Jade, and the rest have given us some tracks which get right back to the heart of aggro-synth club tracks, and I couldn't be happier.
