Pako & Frederik - Atlantic Breakers

Global Undergrounds’ November release of Pako & Frederick – Atlantic Breakers is a prime example of a Global Underground artist release. This CD is a 65 minute definition of why GU is so great to worldwide dance music. It’s a real journey of mind and body relaxing progressive house. It’s the kind of thing you’re not used to hearing from a progressive house label.

At first listen you would think that “Atlantic Breakers” is a mix CD by a superstar DJ. This is a fully mixed artist showcase. The second song “O-Group” has elements of breakbeat scratching over a simple deep beat. On “Nasty Youth”, it gives you a kinda of acid house feel but in breakbeat fashion, very nicely done. “Pintan Alley” has a real funky bassline with some far out sound effects it seems to have maybe a little funky breaks influence. The final song “Make Me” has a very chilled-out beat and soft organ tones with a trance feel to it.

The mixing and production of the tracks is nothing but superb. The mixes are reminiscent of a full on trance set without the cheese or crummy vocals. You can relax and drift away listening in the almost beach-like atmosphere that this CD creates.

Even from the beginning, the cover art shows a picture of a multicolor sunset permeating the sky behind a jersey style lifeguard tower. This image is the perfect example of what this CD holds in store for the listener. I must say hats off to Global Underground for there awesome ear for talent and also a quality CD. All in all this is a must have for any GU fan…….
