Some compilations do shine through, and this is one such collection. Plush features many tunes originally only available on import CDs. Early tracks showcase the vocal side of the genre with contributions from Wondabraa, Hattler (remixed by De-Phazz), and Naked Musics Aquanote featuring Gina Rene from Om Records Soulstice lending her seductive vocals. Fans of Schema Records will appreciate the inclusion of In The Mood For Love by S-Tone Inc.. Prince fans should check out Hefners alluring rework of Controversy, while King Britt (ex-Digable Planet) adds his touch of brilliance to Todos Os Desejos by Fantastic Plasic Machine.
Often, these compilations consist of 40% quality and 60% filler, but even the filler on Plush is pleasureable. Ive featured most of these songs in my sets for quite some time now, so that should be a testament to their quality. However, I cant stop thinking that one of the best things about this album is the cover art. A fresh bottle of champagne. Soft, female feet encased in an expensive pair of open-toed mules resting on a decorative, designer loveseat. Along with this CD, it completes the recipe for seduction.
