"SSX3 the soundtrack" is, as the title implies, a soundtrack for a video game. While the songs have not been mixed together, they fit together nicely on this album - building on one another as you get deeper into it. This is a good thing. The bad thing is that several of these songs should be left to the video game (most notably The Chemical Brothers' "Leave Home"). They, along with a few others that are just okay, make this disc just a little below average. This is a shame considering some of the big names - Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx - on this disc. But even with these names and the well crafted build-up from mellow house, to a little bit of hip hop, to harder dance music, this is still not enough for me to recommend that you add "SSX3 the soundtrack" to your record collection. Instead, save your money for the game, if it is one
you like, or the singles of the songs you do like. After all, Kinky's
"Mas" and N.E.R.D.'s "Rock Star" are nothing to sneeze at.
