The debut singles from Tara Lowe, "Be With You," and Candee Jay, "If I Were You," prove that their producers (Peter Luts/David Vervoort aka Lasgo and Pronti/Kalmani aka AliceDeejay) are more than one hit wonders and able to work with new singers making songs with new sounds that are even catchier than their original hits. The Pimpsmackers mix of "Gates of Mind" breaks up the set (oops- bad pun) with singer Jewls channeling Kate Bush for the airy refrain. Andain's "Beautiful Things" also stands out with a darker, edgier almost-rock feel communicated effectively by an exceptional Gabriel and Dresden remix.
Aside from the misstep of the Outfly track, the song selection of Trance Party 3 is exceptional (and I am not just saying that because the CD has two of my personal favorite songs, Divine Inspiration "The Way" and Ian Van Dahl "Secret Love"). Though I feel compelled to point out one weakness which is the jumpy transitions between some of the tracks. I guess the Happy Boys just call it Quick Mixing, but in a few points I found it jarring. Funny thing is, I don't think many others will notice as I put the CD on for a party and everyone just bopped away commenting how wonderfuly energetic the music was.
