My first real exposure to 4 Strings came during the Winter Music Conference in Miami where I would turn on WPYM and invariably hear either "Diving" or "Take Me Away" every 20 minutes. Massive exposure to such addictive confections made me crave more of the same but I was scared at first to listen to the album, fearing the rest of the album would be retreads and reworking of the first two hits like you hear in many dance albums (Note to Darude - adjusting the pitch of a song doesn't really make it a new one.)
Diving into the album, I was pleasantly surprised by gems like "Let it Rain," "Daytime" and the Rollo-influenced "Revelations." Though I was sort of hoping that "Waterfalls" would be a cover of the Atlantic Ocean classic, I wasn't disappointed by the midtempo track which breaks up the flow of the CD. While the CD isn't beatmixed, the songs blend together, turning this strong europop album into an incredible mixtape perfect for gym work or any other time you want to lose yourself in trance music.
