Lime - Love Fury

Unidisc Canada

If you've ever had doubts about the continuing influence of 80s eurodisco phenoms Lime, you need only look at the domination of the New York area by Digital Allies and Richard Luzzi. The trademarks were all there- passionate male vocals, booming beats, and a defiantly retro aesthetic that made you sit up and take notice. You could follow a direct line from Lime's classic hits ("Babe, We're Gonna Love Tonight" and "Unexpected Lovers," in particular) through the he-raps-she-sings trend of the mid-90s all the way up to the Digital Allies experience.

Now, after almost a decade, Lime are back with a few newer pieces of studio equipment and that same goal- conquering car stereos and pizza place sound systems throughout the world. Denis LePage and co. are still doing it Limestyle, with the highlight being the first single "No Other Love" (also included in a couple of remixed versions). There are a couple of clunkers, but to have a new Lime record after all these years makes a triumphant statement about the enduring nature of Canadian Hi-NRG.
