With her debut CD "Take a Good Look" spawning four club chart hits, it has been quite an amazing time for Alyson. Clubland has embraced her voice and her music as she tours the country performing for her fans. Hollywood is now beckoning with a role in the film Mr. Jinx and soundtrack placements. Singer, songwriter, label owner, movie star – is there anything that Alyson can't do?

DJ Ron Slomowicz: Hey Alyson, I hear it's been a busy year for you?
Alyson: It's been pretty busy but it's been really good.

RS: Congratulations, it's been like, thirty-five singles in the top twenty this year?
Alyson: I don't think it's been that many.

RS: I mean the next thing you know you're going to be with Kristine W doing Vegas shows.
Alyson: Well those are some big shoes to fill, but I would be honored.

RS: So one thing I really like about you, you seem to be really on top of everything. So the label is you, you do your own production, what can't you do?
Alyson: I'm not good at telling jokes, I don't think I'll ever be a stand-up comedian.

RS: So the album started as like an urban R&B pop album, what motivated you to go the dance direction?
Alyson: There were a few songs on the album that were originally dance songs – "Feel You" and "Didn't You Think," but there were definitely elements of dance in addition to R&B and pop and soul and even a reggae track. When I started learning more about the music business and about promotion and about how to get my music out there, I realized that if I focused even more on the dance side of my music that I could get my music played in the clubs. It was all just like a learning process.

RS: So what were your methods of learning, were you just out there banging on doors or where did you find your mentor?
Alyson: Well the first thing I did after I finished the album is I pressed up the whole album and sent it to all the record pools around the country and I discovered record pools on the internet. A lot of people don't really know about the record pool system, but it's great for getting your music out there. I talked to Ronny Matthews at Star Fleet and he was talking with me about how I should remix this track because it would do really well. So I selected "What Are You Going To Do" as the first song to do some club mixes.

RS: What was it like giving over control to someone else to remix your music?
Alyson: Well giving over control to Ralphi Rosario really isn't a big stretch as far as trust. I had complete faith that he would turn it out, and he did.

RS: You also worked with Hex Hector on a few tracks.
Alyson: Well, he remixed my third and fourth single and he produced the music for the remix.

RS: What was it like working with Hex Hector?
Alyson: He is so cool, he is one of the nicest people I've ever met. He is obviously a super talent, just a giant in the industry.

RS: You've also been making some fun music videos.
Alyson: I've done three so far – "Feel You," "Nothing More To Say" and "Take A Good Look."

RS: I remember the beach scene in "Nothing More To Say."
Alyson: … with the hot guy.

RS: And the hot girl too.
Alyson: I had some hot dancers in that video, yes.

RS: And moving forward from video, I heard you're taking a step further and going into acting with a debut in Mr. Jinx. What role do you play in that?
Alyson: I actually play a singer who is dating this guy who turns out to be a serial killer, so I get killed. I get shot while I'm performing.

RS: Is that a fear of yours that you have?
Alyson: No, not really.

RS: I know you've been doing a lot of performances lately.
Alyson: No, I don't think there's a lot of violence like that in the types of clubs that I'm performing in, or at least I hope not...

RS: Yes, the pride events and dance clubs are pretty mild, you don't have to worry about violence – unless of course the lesbians get a bit too drunk or two guys show up in the same Versace outfit.
Alyson: So far it's been all love in audiences that I've been at, so that's good.

RS: Where have you been playing lately?
Alyson: Well I just did the most fun thing, I performed on a float in the New York City Gay Pride parade and that was amazing and unbelievable. The streets of New York were just filled with people who were having fun and with smiles on their faces and singing and laughing. It was a beautiful day.

RS: Awesome. I heard you also did a recent event in San Diego.
Alyson: Yes, I performed in San Diego a couple of months ago at Rich's and that was a blast. That was actually the second time I'd performed at that club. I performed there for New Year's Eve a year ago and then they had me back this spring. DJ Derek Moody, the resident DJ, he's such a sweetheart and we stay in close touch, he's been a big supporter.
