RS: Of Soul Solution? For the "Ballad of Cleo & Joe" remixes?
Cyndi: Yes, and I also did "Disco Inferno" with him, which was nominated for a Grammy.
RS: Congratulations.
Cyndi: It was a long, long time ago. I haven't sung it since the World Trade Center.
RS: Obviously though. When I heard you'd made that decision, I respected you for it.
Cyndi: Well, you know I'm a New Yorker.
RS: Which of your remixes have been your favorite?
Cyndi: There's a couple of them. I like Come On Home, not the Dream Drums mix as much as the techno version we did together, me and Junior. Also Eddie X, his version of Higher Plane. Another of my favorite mix was this Sweet Voodoo version of "Shine."
RS: Cool. I want to ask you about your acting a little bit, this is going to sound goofy but one of the best parts of the Goonies DVD is it has both parts of your "Goonies R Good Enough" video, and you have a real a flair for acting and you have an amazing cinematic expression. Do you plan on doing any more acting at any time soon?
Cyndi: I do stuff, I'm probably going to go to Broadway, because I'd like to stay home and watch my son grow up, but I don't think I would be able to stop doing music.
RS: That makes sense especially with your work on the "Tycoon" project in the UK. You did two songs for it including "The World is Stone," which is one of the most beautiful ballads you've ever recorded. Have you considered doing other musical theatre projects like that or covering other Luc Plamondon songs?
Cyndi: I had a great time recording those songs. And theater is something I am seriously looking into right now.
RS: Another interesting performance you did recently was the VH1 Divas show - is there anybody that you would like to duet with?
Cyndi: I would have liked to work with Joss Stone She is really talented and such a sweet kid. I was thrilled to sing with Patti again though that was a special night for me.
RS: And speaking of TV, where do you keep your Emmy?
Cyndi: On a bookshelf in a hallway of my NYC apartment.
RS: I've got a few more song questions for you. "I Drove All Night" has been covered by Roy Orbison and Celine Dion as well as dozens of other vocalists, yet it remains, defiantly so, your song. Do you have any special feelings about that song?
Cyndi: The song was originally written for Roy Orbison but I recorded it because I don't think he liked it or something. I love the song and understand why other artists want to cover it.
RS: Of all of the songs in your repertoire, which is your favorite one to sing?
Cyndi: Depends on the evening really. I love True Colors and Shine right now.....
RS: Will you ever bring back the lost Cyndi classic "Hole in My Heart (All The Way To China)"?
Cyndi: If I ever do another greatest hits package or a B side project, it's a great idea.
RS: Last question - do girls really just wanna have fun?
Cyndi: Of course, who doesn't?
