RS: You also had a track on the Reina album "What Happened to Us."
Dee Robert: Yes, I collaborated with Albert Castille of Mynt/Al B
Rich and I think that it's in contention to be her next single.
That's what I've heard and I'm hoping for that. In an interview that
Reina did early on with Vic Latino of KTU, she told them in the
interview that it was her favorite song on the album and it was the
record that she had most fun making. We really work well together,
Reina and I have been friends for sometime. She's an awesome lady and
I'm close with her family, her mom René and her manager Norma-Jean.
We've hung out at many shows together and we've had a lot of laughs.
She was another artist that I've wanted to work with for quite a long
time, and it was really a pleasure working with her. I think the song
is different from the rest of the songs because it has a different
feeling to it. I think it's probably one of the hardest songs on the
album, edgier and darker and I believe that's probably the strongest
song for mixshow and clubland. I hope it's a big hit for her, I really
enjoyed doing that one.
RS: In addition to working with these really big artists, you're
also working with some up-and-coming, developing artists. Tell me how
you met Anthony Fulco?
Dee Robert: I was doing a show at one of the clubs in Long Island
and Anthony was introduced to me as an artist. One day he started
instant-messaging me and, coincidentally at the time, I was writing
another song for Colton Ford with Albert Castille of Mynt. Colton
didn't follow through on the project so we had a song called "I Can't
Go On," and I was looking for a male singer for it. Then when Anthony
started IMing me, I totally didn't remember who he was because he had
some other screen name. I was like "who is this, what was this in
reference to?" We laugh about that to this day. Anthony's a great
up-and-coming talent and he's a really great developing songwriter.
We collaborate on a lot of his material and he's been opening up some
of my shows for me. I think you're going to hear a lot of good stuff
coming from him. We have a single "Next to Me" that should be
released shortly, and that'll be his first single, so listen for it!
