RS: You're coming over to the States for the gig in San Francisco. Do you have any other plans to come over to the States?
Katherine Ellis: Someone's trying to get me to come to Boston but I don't know because there is a financial consideration as well.
It's something I'm going to look into actually, as I do seem to have such a lot of fans in the States, but it's just a question of trying to pull
something together and organize it really. I think as I'm coming over to San Francisco to do the Thurust records, Lee Coombs label, night I think it would be a good
opportunity to perhaps try and do something else while I'm there. But I mean I'm actually kind of busy at it is. Last year I did over seventy
live shows and put out twenty-two records.
RS: Jesus!
Katherine Ellis: I know, and I wrote seventeen of them as well, so I was pretty exhausted by the end of the year. I love performing,
but I'm actually enjoying having fewer shows at the moment and just concentrating more on my writing for the time being. I'm not in a hurry to
try and rush off. I'm going to Malta on Saturday and then I've got something else next week in Swindon. Then next month I'm going to Prague
which is partly why I'm not coming to Miami, because I'm working with Lee Dagger from Bimbo Jones in Prague. So, I've got a few little
interesting things to keep me going.
RS: I notice with MySpace you keep it pretty updated, do you do that yourself? Isn't it a great way to keep in touch with your fans?
Katherine Ellis: Yes, I do it myself. It's great. Nick Spain wrote to me today and said "I can't tell you how many of your records
that I play in every set that I do and I love you and ,, " I don't think he said he loved me but it was just very complimentary. I wrote back
to him and left him a comment, just said thank you so much for telling me. It means a lot especially like this morning, when I wasn't feeling
very inspired and it was like oh, good, I am wanted. Because it can be a bit strange sometimes when you're just sitting at home or sitting in your
studio and you don't speak to anybody. A lot of people I work with, I've never met them or spoken to them because there's no need - we just do
everything over the net. So MySpace has been really nice. It's very uplifting and gratifying to know that people appreciate me.
RS: Is there anything else you want to say to all your fans out there?
Katherine Ellis: Just thank you, thank you very much for all the support. The MySpace thing has been great for me because it has
been
a way of me being able to say, this is me. You may not know because it's not under the name Katherine Ellis necessarily, but this is my
record and this is my record and I have been around for a long time. That's really nice as people are starting to realize all the things
that I've done.
