RS: Fast forward from that to today, and you've been working with some really great producers over here in
the US as well.
Taborah: I started off with Johnny Rocks on "I Am," does it get better? He's got a phenomenal ear, an
excellent talent for music, and he knows how to take what I have and make it better. He will be the one that I would
say knows how to push me just enough to get what I have in my mind to come out, but I wouldn't give it to you if you
didn't push for it.
RS: Awesome. You have some really hot producers on "All I Gave to You 06" as well.
Taborah: All of the mixers are hot! I was very fortunate to work with Joe Bermudez & Klubjumpers,
Giuseppe D, John Rizzo & Barry Huffine and Josh Harris.
RS: I also see you performing everywhere, all over New York and everywhere, how are your performances
going?
Taborah: You know what, they're getting better and better. I believe right now we're ready to open up
for Christina Aguilera, it's that good. My dancers are phenomenal and I don't know if you noticed, but I also have
background singers. It takes the show to another level.
RS: Cool. I also notice you're performing a lot with gay crowds and gay youth in particular. Have they
reached out to you or have you reached out to them?
Taborah: Completely, completely, they love the songs as much as I do.
RS: Had you been to Gay Pride celebrations before?
Taborah: I was supporting the Gay Pride parade early on in the streets of NY. Every year, my friends and
I would go down and watch the parade and hang out at Washington Square Park and then some after party around town. So
it was awesome when the Heritage of Pride Rally Committe asked me to perform on the stage that kicks-off the whole
week and then....they asked me back again for a 2nd time! If my friends could see me now... Well some of them did!
RS: I know you're a woman of faith and there has been a lot of talk with other artists who have said some
not entirely open-minded things about gay men, who are a really big audience for dance music. How do you reconcile or
have your faith go along with this?
Taborah: I like to sing and whoever is an audience that's going to listen to me, that's going to be
receptive to my music, that loves me and loves what I'm doing, and I can reach out and touch somebody's heart, that's
all that matters. It's a good thing, it's a beautiful thing and it's just that simple.
RS: It is that simple. That's awesome. So your website is absolutely a lot of fun, do you have a lot of
effect on that?
Taborah: I do, but you know what, I've been having a lot of fun on my myspace website. I have a myspace
Taborah Music website, and I've got lots of friends. Because I'll tell you want, just for instance I was out and my
nephew calls me, he's all excited, he's in North Carolina, he's at the mall and he's in Abercrombie and said to me
'I'm
listening to your song,' he's like, 'I'm so excited I can't believe it,' and he was just full of energy. And I
realize that a lot of kids today that go in Abercrombie have listened to my songs, so what I'm trying to do is get
them to know the face with the song. So I've gone to myspace and I've invited a lot of friends from Abercrombie and
Fitch and everybody who has gotten the Abercrombie and Fitch gear, and I'm introducing myself to them in a sense,
saying, you know, 'this is who I am, I know you've been listening to me and now I want you to know who I am.'
RS: Well speaking about that, anything you want to say to all your fans out there?
Taborah: You know what, I just want to say that I do have a lot of wonderful fans and they're faithful,
and I'm so happy that they appreciate a real vocal. Because I know I am blessed enough to have a
big voice and I can't tell you how wonderful it is to sing and watch the faces of the audience and people be touched
because music is very powerful and music is very inspirational, and I'm happy that my songs can do that to so many
people.
