The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), the premiere European dance music conference, celebrated its 16th Anniversary Edition from October 19th-22nd, 2011.
After a banner 15th Anniversary celebration in 2010, ADE added several new components this year as well as continuing some of the strongest features. A few highlights were:
DJ Magazine Top DJ Awards
On the Thursday, October 20th, the Passenger Terminal in Amsterdam housed the Top 100 DJs Awards Ceremony as voted on by the public. Headlining the party will be Armin Van Buuren, Fedde Le Grand and David Guetta (who achieved the top spot on the list.) This was the first time the DJ Awards will be presented during the ADE. Sold Out a Month in Advance
For the first time, ADE sold out a month in advance - while adding more delegates than last year.
Hard Dance Event - Second Edition
Over 700 people gathered from over 17 different countries to lead the future of the hard dance movement. The 2011 edition will focus on networking and feature seminars about genre crossover and the image of the hard dance scene.
Music and Bits expanded
Newly expanded to three days, the Music and Bits program focused on music and technology. The panels and roundtables this year covered 'Music Arts and Design,' 'Music Mobile and Context' and 'Music and Business.' Industry leaders from Pitchfork, Topspin and Mixcloud will be featured presenters.
Headliners
ADE always presents the biggest names in the EDM world and 2011 festival was no different. Announced headliners are Grammy Award winner Afrojack, Richie Hawtin, David Guetta, Carl Cox, and Armin van Buuren. This year a record number of 52 venues around Amsterdam, including many for the first time will be represented.
