After lunch, it was time for the artist panel which provided both a full table (Jes, Chris Willis, Judy Torres, Lucas Prata, Lady Gaga, Katrina, Tami Chynn, Rachel Panay, Fans of Jimmy Century, Kristy K, Ali Bertash, Drea) and a full room. While I was unable to record everything that was said (as insane as that would have been) here are some of my favorite quotes:
This is not an audition. This is my stage. This is real life
- Lady Gaga
I never thought about the DJs, its all about me. Just kidding. I love DJs they rock!
- Chris Willis
The drum intro for Walking on Sunshine is something the DJs will wank for.
- Katrina
You can make a fly video with a dark room, a light bulb and a cell phone. Figure it out and youre Andy Warhol in twenty Years
- Lady Gaga
Getting signed paper on a project is like a wearing a condom.
- Kristy K
If one more person calls me Skribble, I will kick them in the balls.
- Lucas Prata
The music today is not lousy, it is lazy:
- Lady Gaga
You get what you negotiate
- Chris Willis
Another fun part of the panel was when each artist was asked what their favorite song was responses were as diverse as the artists:
Ali Bertash Etta James Teach me Tonight
Drea Paula Cole I Believe in Love
Rachel Panay Duke Ellinton
Tami Chynn Sting Shape of My Heart
Kristy K Donna Summer Last Dance
Judy Torres Barbara Streisand and Chris Willis Love is Gone
Katrina Mama Cass Its Getting Better
Jes Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here
Fans of Jimmy Century (Alecia) Seal Kiss From a Rose
Fans of Jimmy Century (Victor) - Katrina and the Waves Walking on Sunshine
Chris Willis Michael Jackson Rock With You
Lady Gaga The Beatles Oh! Darling
After the artist panel, I had a nice dinner with promoter Debra Eriksen, a new artist Janice Grace and possibly the only person in the world more energetic or louder than I am Tony Zeoli from NetMix. Seriously, after dinner I needed to take an Advil. <grin>
