Miami 2006 - Day 6 Wrapup

By DJ Ron Slomowicz, About.com Guide

Lucas Prata bowling for hits..

Lucky Strikes

Another day of insanity..

Started off at the Wyndham for the President's Panel, where Tommy Silverman (Tommy Boy), Eddie O Laughlin (Next Plateau), Cory Robbins (Robbins), Patrick Moxey (Ultra), Daniel Glass (Artemis), and Sharam Tayebi (Yoshitoshi) were introduced by minimixes of the records they introduced. Moderated by the animated and respected Cary Vance, the panelists shared their invaluable perspectives and I gained a lot from their insights.

I met up with some friends and ran down to Lucky Strikes for an Ultra Bowling party. The event was a nice change from the loud clubs with all of the Ultra singers and producers bowling, chatting and having a good time. Off the top of my mind, in attendance was Lucas Prata, Stonebridge, Kim Sozzi, Sheila Brody, Jenn Cunetta, Al B Rich, Andy & the Lamboy, Johnny Budz, Joe Bermudez, and many more. Who knew that bowling could be so much fun?

Madiba was the venue for Barbara Tucker's album debut performance. The vibe was warm and soulful as was her performance with the full band. The new music sounds really good and I can't wait to spin the records for my dancefloor.

We made a quick stop to Hotel Victor where Roger Sanchez had a packed second floor going nuts to his energetic house set. It was easily one of the best sets of the week.

IPartyRadio and Deet Promotions did an artist showcase at Twist which is another of my favorite parties each year. I love singers - there I admit it! And to see Georgie Porgie, Pepper Mashay, Taborah, Rachel Panay, Frederick Ford and many more perform is quite a highlight of the week. DJs Lenny B and Chris the Greek filled in the breaks and kept the crowd hyped.

The Shelter 15 Anniversary party at Shine was insane. When I walked in the room, I felt the vibe. It was an old school party with punters singing along and screaming for each song as if each was a favorite.

I ended the night at Crobar for the Def Mix party. David Morales was in rare form playing great records dropping vocals between tribal and house beats. I guess the fact that Oakenfold was at the bar dancing is a great sign on how good the night was.
