They say everything gets better with age, and DJing is no exception. I
can remember the days of lugging around crates of records weighing 50
pounds each. Of course I was in better shape then. Nowadays, the older
and wiser me carries an all-in-one system comprising of a laptop, a
USB MIDI controller and a pair of headphones altogether weighing less
than 10 pounds. Wonder how that's possible? Let me introduce you to
the VCM-100 from Vestax.

Stanton Uberstand Laptop Stand Review
The Stanton T.90 is a USB turntable that, in conjunction with Audacity or Cakewalk Pyro 5 (included on a disc with the deck), enables the user to rip vinyl directly into a digital format (.WAV or .mp3). It is also a fully-functional turntable with expansive pitch control and direct-drive.
As the digital revolution takes a firm hold on the music industry, it
has become ever more apparent that the reputation of any DJ worth his
salt is more than just "two turntables and a microphone." Today's
successful DJ is an organized, portable and image-conscious
entertainment package, and nothing defines "professional" better than
something that brings all of those defining qualities together in
perfect harmony.
Numark TTi USB Review - USB Turntable with Pitch Control & Universal Dock
A DJ, just like an artist, grows over time as they are exposed to new
influences. Its taken a few months, but I am now ready to review the
Vestax VCI-100 DJ MIDI Controller. You will notice how my experience
with the Total Control has affected my review of the Vestax VCI-100.
Prior to my purchasing Numark's IDJ2 iPod mixing console, I
had been using Numark's Virtual DJ software program, utilizing the
20-day trial version but it also meant that I had to schlep my laptop
to and from the place where I would be DJing, the Gnarly Vine wine
bar, located 15 minutes from my apartment in downtown New Rochelle,
New York. I chose the IDJ2 platform versus using "real" turntables,
which I've never owned, or CD-based mixers, which I own but haven't
used in years...

NAMM, the International Music Products Association, held its Summer Session in Nashville, allowing me to peruse through all the new equipment that will soon be hitting the market. Working my way through the auditorium, I searched out the gear that DJs will be lusting after and found a few common trends (DVD mixing and Turntable-controlled CD players) as well as some other interesting pieces.
Drop them, bounce them, get 'em wet - Pioneer CD players won't skip. Their mixers are acclaimed for incredible effects valuable for any DJ.
Over the past few years, I have noticed a gradual change (for the worse) in my perception of music and sounds, finally last year June 2003 I had an extensive doctor's evaluation and my diagnosis is that I have permanent hearing damage as a direct result of my exposure to high decibel music. My hearing damage curve is what is commonly called a "musician's curve". My hearing loss from constant exposure to extremely loud music is PERMANENT, now that it is gone, I can not get it back.
