What is it?
The Stanton Uberstand is a laptop stand designed with the DJ in mind. Stored flat with the dimensions of an album (so it fits in a standard record bag), the Uberstand unfolds quickly to be either a three tiered stand (when used on a flat table) or a two tiered stand (when placed over a turntable.)Testing
The middle tier can be placed in three positions depending on the size of gear you are using. I normally have it on a flat surface with a MIDI controller on the first tier, my external hard drive and sound card on the second tier, and my laptop on the top tier. My big 17" Mac Book Pro is supported safely and in a stable manner on the top shelf. Included pieces of velcro prevent slippage. Reusable twist ties also prevent the pivot from going back too much.
Critiques
When a unit is so perfectly designed and simple to use, it's hard to come up with a critique. The only critique I have would be a caution to check the height of the table and the height of the Uberstand. If the table is above your waist and then you put the Uberstand on top of it, it might be too high for you to use it ergonomically. Rather than suffering from the "DJ hunch" from leaning over a turntable you might develop an arm crick from reaching up.Conclusion
