On the Inside

Open the main compartment of the bag and you will find 31 pages of CD storage, 8 to a page, lined with a super-soft backing material designed to prevent scratches and damage to your CDs as well as durable vinyl pockets with V-shaped disc access that allows you to remove and insert discs without ever touching the surface. The front cover offers an additional 10 slots for discs of "high" importance or just easy access, bordered by a long zippered pocket perfect for pens or Sharpies. The pages are held in by 2" plastic straps, allowing for less likelihood of ever tearing out like a three-ring binder style might do, and the pages glide effortlessly across them even when the book is filled to capacity. You can really see the durable construction of the bag from this vantage point as well, as the two clips to which the detachable strap is connected are riveted to the underside of the handle on the inside of the bag instead of the side or top, which gives it added strength and less likelihood of ever sagging, slipping, or tearing out over time.

On the front of the bag is the large multi-purpose pocket housed under a flexible Velcro flap. Underneath the flap is a front-view mesh pocket, while inside is a plethora of inner nylon pockets with perfect fits for a wallet, an i-Pod, PDA device, or in my case a cozy fit for my Sidekick, a detachable keyring to help avoid those late night searches for lost keys, and enough extra space to house a medium-sized pair of headphones or additional accessories like cables or power cords for your laptop.

The entire inner portion of the bag comes lined in a bright orange nylon for added visibility in low light situations, and the outer shell is offered in lots of flashy alternatives such as basic black, metallic silver/grey, and a number of camouflage designs for the DJ that really wants to stand out from the crowd.

In Action

This weekend when I worked at my residency, I strolled in with a new sense of confidence and pride. No more multiple trips to my car to get everything inside, no more awkward situations on my ladder as I headed up to my booth. The UDG Slingbag 258 solved all of my issues as an unorganized DJ, and made me look great in the process. My new bag even caught the eye of the bartenders and security at my club, who gave me raving compliments when they don't know squat about DJing and gear.

Conclusion

Having someone who doesn't understand the purpose or logistics behind my choice recognize it as "really classy" and "extremely nice" only compounded my pride at having chosen UDG. Not only did my UDG purchase serve me well in getting me organized and compact, but it makes me feel like one of the "big DJs" when I carry it. And it didn't break my budget either! In today's economy that's important, and UDG met and exceeded my expectations and needs as a part-time DJ.
