RS: Recently, I see you're name popping up a lot with Mike Da Wizard - how did the two of you meet up?
DeMarko: I wanted to do more remixing, but my partners that I previously worked with didn't like the direction the industry was headed and they had more lucrative interest outside of music, and music and television is all I know. Right now, if your not remixing, your not getting much work either, so I had to do what I could to stay in the game.

RS: What's it like working with Deep Influence in the studio?
DeMarko: Those guys are amazing. So easy to work with, I learned a lot from them and they are so easy to convey what I was envisioning in my music. They are extremely talentedand creative guys!!!

RS: How hard was it to do a cover of Beyonce's "Naughty Girl?"
DeMarko: That was easy! From my prospective ( with all due respect to Victor Calderone) I wanted to give it a zap in a different direction. Victor's mix was perfect and had the energy, but I needed to bring it from a "shake your ass" "move your feet" place, I needed it to be mine!!!

RS: What are you in the studio working on?
DeMarko: Right now, for the first time every 4 tracks simultaneously, 2 on my own, 1 with Mike Da Wizard, and 1 with my old partner Dr. Brooks from Menergy, who is giving me direction. This is still all relatively new to me and I'd rather not do anything at all than put out something that will not so much as make a dent on a dance floor!

RS: Are you Mac or PC?
DeMarko: Both, At home on my own I use PC , but when I work with my guys we use Mac. They are teaching me the basics with Mac!

RS: What software do you use?
Demarko: At home I use Cool Edit Pro, Sound Forge ACID, and with the guys we use Pro Tools.

RS: Going back to DJing, what are your biggest records right now?
DeMarko: So many, there is this song called "Esperanza" - Amazing European orchestral sound with a driving beat complete with piano and trumpets. Other favorites are Fantasia's "It's All Good," Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl" and Suzanne Palmer's "Sound of the Drum!"

RS: How did you meet up with the infamous Circuit Mom?
DeMarko: Circuit Mom had mentioned to me awhile back that the idea of managing some talent was floating around and once other projects was completed would like to dabble in it. I said I couldn't do any worse than I was and to let me know, I would be the first client!

RS: How do you choose songs for your mixed compilation - Global Groove: The Tour?
DeMarko: Songs are picked by the resonance they have between me and the crowd. I don't put something old and stale on, but as for one track on my CD called "El Ritmo," that is at least 6 years old and it still sounds great. I always incorporate something old with the new!

RS: Speaking of something old, how important do you think cover songs are for a DJ set?
DeMarko: Personally, I don't like covers no matter how well they are produced. Then again there are songs out there that are what I call "updated." For instance Inaya Day's "Nasty Girl," it was a fierce track when Vanity 6 did it, Inaya was able to bring in right up to speed for today's market. Along with Peter Rauhofer's Sleaze mix, it got heavy rotation.

RS: How is the Global Groove tour going?
DeMarko: My God, who knew touring would be so much fun. I meet new people every weekend, and sometime in place that you didn't know there's a club scene. That's the funny part. No matter where I go, people tell me they've been following my career since the early in Montreal. That was before I even considered myself a DJ!

RS: What cities are you surprised to be playing?
DeMarko: Just got back from Hawaii, Raleigh, North Carolina, and Atlanta which has become a regular stop, Dallas, Philly, Tampa, Columbus Ohio, San Antonio, Houston, Tel Aviv Israel and Sao Paolo Brazil and of course home, Montreal!

RS: You were a model before you were a DJ. What did you learn from your modeling career that you have been able to apply to your DJ career?
DeMarko: Just like modeling, you can be the belle of the ball, on the top of everyone's A-List, walking to the front of the line, and the next day your standing in line waiting for food stamps!!!
