Music has always been a passion of mine. Ever since I was a kid, I would spend hours in front of the radio, hoping to snag a recording of my favorite songs on a cassette tape. I was very unaware of dance music and dance remixes until I met my partner Richard in 1993. He was a close friend with someone who owned a gay nightclub. At some point, Richard bought that club from him and turned into his own. I was lucky enough to be there on most weekends, taking in all the energy and dancing to the music that the DJs played. I became friends with them and began to really get to know the music. Those DJs showed me how they mixed, what records they liked to play and even gave me copies of titles they would get duplicates of. I still remember the first promo CD I was ever given: Reba McEntires You Keep Me Hangin On. From that moment on, I would scour record stores looking for CDs and 12 vinyl of the mixes I heard at the club. My collection grew pretty quickly, much to my partners dismay!
In 1998, I began working at Tower Records, a dream come true for a music freak such as myself. I worked my way into becoming the singles buyer and eventually found myself as an assistant manager of the store. My collection of music continued to expand and throughout its growth, dance music always remained my favorite. Towards the end of November of 2006, DJ Ron asked me if I ever thought about writing reviews. I knew I could probably say something about the songs I enjoyed (or those I didnt), so I said Id give it a try. Since the closing of the store, I have been doing reviews for this site on a regular basis and loving every minute of it! I dont have the technical vocabulary of a DJ or a mixer, but I try to make my reviews as informative as possible. Hopefully the readers are enjoying them as well!
