Jon Walker Bio

By , About.com Guide

As a Nashville native, Jon Walker has been involved with the electronic scene since the mid-1990s. After picking up a copy of Roni Size & Reprazent's New Forms, Walker was immediately hooked on the soulful sounds of nineties D&B. Since then, he has traveled to the far reaches of the planet, from the U.K. to Australia, in pursuit of electronic music. In addition to being a fan of electronic music, Walker has spent time as a performer (The J-Walker), promoter (FM Productions), label owner (Matic Records), and producer.

As a DJ, Walker finds time to regularly perform at clubs and events around the southeastern U.S. and enjoys being involved with both internet and commercial radio. Walker, as founder of FM Productions, is recognized as being a key figure in helping to put the spark back into the scene following the infamous passage of the R.A.V.E. Act nearly five years ago.

Walker attended Belmont University in Nashville, spending two years studying commercial percussion. He decided to switch direction and finished with a B.A. in Marketing. "I'll always love playing music. My decision to pursue marketing was motivated mainly by the perception that I have more influence getting great music into people's hands from a business end rather than an artists'." As a musician, Walker has played professionaly since the age of sixteen in many rock, jazz and country groups.

Currently, Walker is involved with Music Video Marketing at AristoMedia Group where distributes and promotes country, christian and pop music to hundreds of video outlets around the world. As a hobby, Walker enjoys travelling, practicing drums, photography and graphic design.
