Pete wasn't sure how to interpret that general feeling-the kid in the movie was a little nerdy, so why would people instantly think of him?-but he could see the similarities. The current Washington, D.C. resident was still too young to legally get into the clubs he covered on a regular basis, but he was already a veteran of the dance music world, having attended his first music industry conference in Chicago at the tender age of 17. A year earlier, he had snagged a spot as a reporter for the seminal dance music magazine DMA, becoming its lead feature writer until its demise in 2003. Pete's work has since appeared in print in Vibe, DJ Times and Remix, as well as online at Rollingstone.com, Raves.com, Music.com and, now, dancemusic.about.com.
A lover of all genres of music, Pete nonetheless finds a special bond with the insistent pulse of house in all its forms-from tribal to funky to progressive, from vocal anthems to synth-dominated tech house to soulful deep house. In addition to writing about these usually segregated subgenres, Pete combines them during guest DJ appearances at notable clubs like Pure in Philadelphia. He is also a full-time student at the University of Maryland in the D.C. suburb of College Park.
