DJ Ron Slomowicz: Aero, who are some of your favorite DJs?
DJ Aero: Definitely what Tommy said, anybody who's on Ed Banger record
as I really like that French electrohouse sound. I like Nick Sampson
who is a great friend, and I love the way he plays every time he DJs.
Simply Jeff, I like his breaks style. It really depends. I can go into
a random club and if the DJ's playing the right music and the people
are dancing, that's my favorite DJ.
RS: Cool. I heard you guys are working on a movie. Tell me about that.
DJ Aero: I wish we were working on movie. Have you got something to tell
me, Tommy?
Tommy Lee: We're always working on movies.
DJ Aero: That's right.
RS: Tommy, how is touring as a DJ different from touring with the Crue?
Tommy Lee: What I always tell people is that when Aero and I DJ, it's
not like we're doing this for the money, it's pure pleasure and
passion, and that's different. No one criticizes it - people come to
dance and have a great time. They get drunk, fall, whatever they're
doing, bounce up and down, jump, whatever. For me, that's really,
really cool. It's very different from Motley, when people come and the
writer from Billboard's there to criticize your live performance and
basically tear you a new ass because it wasn't as good as they thought
it was going to be. So there's no one really criticizing anything we
do and tt's purely for fun. It's night and day
totally different.
RS: Do you see any separation between your rock fans and your
dance fans at your gigs?
Tommy Lee: You know what, it's weird. It's wonderful but it's
definitely an eclectic crowds. Let's call it that. There's rock fans,
there's kids there they're just there to drink and have a good time
and dance. Then you've got your fans there with their cell phones
taking pictures all night who aren't dancing or anything, just
standing around and staring at you.
DJ Aero: But then post that they were in the VIP with Tommy Lee all night.
Tommy Lee: Yes, which is weird. But when I say it's eclectic, like a
capital 'E' on that one.
DJ Aero: Oh yes. Go to Oslo, Norway, and check out the fans there,
those are hardcore.
Tommy Lee: Our favorite crowds are when they don't even know who we are.
DJ Aero: And don't care.
Tommy Lee: They're just having fun dancing to the dopest, dirtiest
electro they've ever heard. And I love that, that's my favorite, and
I know it's Aero's, when nobody gives a crap who we are.
DJ Aero: I think we're going to start wearing masks and just go under an
alias and see what happens.
Tommy Lee: You know what, God bless Daft Punk and their little cotton
socks. For disco and underground, who cares who they are?
