DJ Ron Slomowicz: Dance music gets a bad rap from the rock world saying it's
not real music, it's all synthesized. As a rock guy, what's your take
on that?
Tommy Lee: I think that's such bulls*t. I'm going to call B U L L S * * T on that one. You know why? Actually, let me retract that just
slightly because there's a lot of bulls**t dance music out there,
There's also stuff out there and it's something we're working on, that
I believe is just really passionate and really heartfelt and it gives
you a feeling of 'I want to dance, I want to go crazy, I want to break
something.' I just don't believe you sit there at a computer and do
that, it's got to come from your heart.
DJ Aero: Right, you've don't just type back slash, forward slash, and
then all of a sudden a dance music hit comes out and people love to
dance to it. It's usually the people who say they don't like it and
are generalizing, are just rock fans. If you have dance fans, they
hate rock music. It's whatever you're into and for the sake of the
argument, there has to be controversy or everything would stop.
RS: By any chance will we get an electro remix, of" Doctor
Feelgood" out of you guys?
DJ Aero: Tommy just sent me one of those and it sucks. Someone made one
and I think they sent it to Tommy.
RS: Well Tommy, if you could go back and make an electro mix of
any Motley song, what would you do?
Tommy Lee: Wow, that's a good question. I hadn't even thought about
that because I really try to disconnect personally and artistically,
because it's such a different animal.
RS: David Navarro is another rock guy who's gone into the dance
world. If you were to take on Dave in a spin-off, who'd win?
DJ Aero: They don't DJ.
Tommy Lee: It's a whole different animal. Dave's like Karaoke guitar.
DJ Aero: Dave plays guitar over Skribble's beats on turntables and CD
players. That's not what we do.
Tommy Lee: Yes, and no disrespect because I love Dave, but it's a
totally different animal.
RS: Very cool. What would you guys like to say to all your fans out there?
DJ Aero: Put away your cell phone cameras, shut your eyes and dance.
RS: How about you Tommy?
Tommy Lee: I'm going to go with Aero on that one.
