RS: That sounds like a great tagline, I will send that to the
WMC crew. In Miami, there's always clubs changing names and new clubs
coming in, what's the new hot club or what club has changed hands that
we need to know about?
Buster:
Here's the breakdown. Amika, which used to be Shadow Lounge, is now closed and will be reopening as new club called Sin. Crobar is now closed and they've partnered up with the owner of Space, and Crobar will be reopening as the Cameo. The Opium Group will be relaunching a new VIP lounge called Set on Lincoln Road in the old Spy Club/Bar Room space. The new VIP lounge Mockai is opening and going very strong. You've got "O" on Lincoln Road that's doing some great parties as well. For clubs, there's Twilo with an insane sound and lighting system. They have these two giant full LED walls that just light up the entire room, it's amazing to watch. And of course there's Mansion, Opium and the other venues that are still open down here. Those are the new ones that are going to be
kicking during Winter Music Conference.
RS: Let's chat about your website there are so many cool
sections... You're doing a DJ contest, what is that for?
Buster: We're always looking for talented people. You can upload
your own clips and send it in to demo and see what happens. We're
always looking for talented people, personalities, lots of hot girls
usually, and we're always out there. Send it and see what happens.
Even if it's a webcam, let's say somebody records it on their webcam,
if it's cool enough we'll show it. That's the bottom line thing - if
it's a music video, if it's a short film, if it's some ideas - if it's
cool we'll show it, that's one of our big things.
RS: Talking about pretty girls, I noticed you have a section on
fashion. Where do you see fashion for this season in Miami, is it
going to be skimpy bikinis and fake breasts as usual?
Buster: There's always skimpy bikinis and fake breasts in Miami.
WMC seems to be an excuse for pasty Europeans and New Yorkers to come
down to Miami and get an incredible sunburn. Especially with the pool
parties, fashion is a subjective term when there's very little of it.
RS: What's in your original categories?
Buster: One of our most popular series is called South Beach
Undercover, which is a spoof of Miami Vice starring a nightlife
personality named Fabricio who's very well-known in Miami, New York,
and LA in certain circles as a celebrity doorman. He plays an
ex-model turned cop and it's hilarious. On there we've got out TV
spots and our show Wildlife which is the lifestyle show that
encompasses everything that is A3, it's a lot of fun. We've also got
out DJ channel, our club channel which features, right now, selected
content from Club Space, arguably one of the most intense nightlife
experiences in New York.
RS: What is Glued?
Buster: Glued is our user-created stuff and viral videos. That's
your interactive port where you can upload your own stuff and check
out what other people have uploaded as well.
RS: Then there's the Signal?
Buster: The Signal is our biweekly newsletter. It features the new
segments we created, whether it's a private party at a mansion on
South Beach, a new editorial segment that we just created on a new
club, a new fashion shoot or a new TV spot. The Signal is right in
your inbox and we send the latest stuff that we've created. We're
very proud of our production as we've done a lot with a little. The
channel started four years ago with about $500 and now we're to the
point where we have an interactive web portal, we're about to extend
to other cities including New York, and creating our own original
content as well. We're having a lot of fun with it.
RS: I've seen you host events and you're such a dynamic and
entertaining personality, what's your secret at being such a great
host?
Buster: I don't give a crap if people think I'm an idiot. So
whatever comes out of my mouth, like verbal diarrhea, I keep going and
going and going. If it's funny, great, and if it's not then I'll try
to do something to cover it up. When you're up on stage or when
you're in front of a microphone or in front of a camera, no matter
what, people can't help but to judge. I pour on a personality that's
over the top so I can control peoples' perceptions a little bit more
and really just have a lot more fun with them Every time we see a
host for a TV show or whatever, we say 'oh he's ugly or she's not
interesting,' it's human nature to judge people. I think if go over
the top with the personality, they may judge you as a spaz but at
least you're giving them something.
RS: Very cool. What do you want to say to all the fans of A3 out there?
Buster: Log on to the website, watchA3TV.com. We're going to give
you an experience unlike any other experience on the web or
television. It's the coolest clubs, the biggest DJs and the parties
you weren't invited to..
