Bimbo Jones Interview
One such opportunity led to me swapping words with the wonderful members of the band Bimbo Jones. Marc JB and Lee Dagger make up the remixing team that has brought us countless #1 club and radio hits across continents. Katherine Ellis, a vocalist of supreme talent, rounds out the performing group, winning over Europe with their funky track "Harlem 1 Stop" and stomping through American clubs with the disco-fantastic "And I Try."

Interview with Girl Talk
His tour t-shirts accurately proclaim "I'm Not a DJ," since Greg Gillis, better known as Girl Talk, is not onstage playing other people music- not directly, at least. Using sampling technology and software, Girl Talk builds new music based on samples from many genres – best described as an advanced musical version of the mash-up. After bubbling in the underground for years, a Pitchfork review of his 2006 CD Night Ripper brought him to the limelight.

Agostino Carollo Interview (Spankox, Eyes Cream)
A couple of years ago I went to Atlanta for a radio show which featured several live performers – one of which was Ago, who were touring on their hit "Tell Me Where You Are." The version was electric and then when the bridge came – the song suddenly turned into Spankox "To The Club." A minute later Eyes Cream's "Fly Away" chorus was being layered on top as well. I was more than a bit confused so I asked the performer who he was and he introduced himself as Agostino Carollo.

Kaskade Interview - Interview with Kaskade
Starting at OM Records, Kaskade has long been associated with the San Francisco house sound. What that is is hard to explain because the SF music scene is so diverse. A stream of critically-acclaimed albums and the hit club singles "Steppin' Out," "Everything," "Be Still," "Stars Align," and "Sorry" led the way for his music to cross onto radio as well. His most recent CD, Strobelite Seduction, features productions with Deadmau5 and has spawned a number one dance radio hit.

Funkerman Interview - Interview with Funkerman (Speed Up)
Funny story here. At Amsterdam Dance Event 2007, the person I was most excited to meet was Funkerman. His song "Speed Up" totally inspired me to change everything that I do as a DJ. Yes, the song is about getting a girl into bed with you, but there is one line which goes "baby, step up your game," and that one line floated through my head during all of 2007. Upon meeting Funkerman backstage at last years massively successful Flaming Records party at the Melkweg, I burst into the story.

Richard Morel Interview - Interview with Richard Morel (Pink Noise)
A dark, somber vibe permeates 'The Death of The Paperboy,' the new CD from Richard Morel. The one-man producer/singer/songwriter is perhaps best known for his work with Deep Dish and remixes under the alias Pink Noise. Fans of Morissey, The Killers, The Magnetic Fields, and Cut Copy should seek out 'Paperboy' as it is a perfect fusion of dance and rock (there's a CD of each). If you're in Washington DC, watch out for the infamous Blowoff parties that Richard throws with Bob Mould.

Lee Coombs Interview - Interview with Lee Coombs
Seamlessly blending the influence of breaks, electro, acid, and house, Lee Coombs is about to release his latest mixed CD compilation 'Lot 49 Presents: Lee Coombs.' Massive tracks such as "Future Sound of Retro" and "Skyjuice," released on Finger Lickin' Records, launched Lee into the stratosphere. Having remixed the most credible of dance artists including Sunscreem, New Order, Moby, and Lamb, Lee is currently working on an artist album.

John Graham (Quivver) Interview - Interview with John Graham (Quivver)
John Graham may not be a name you know – but you would definitely know the music he has made under the names Quivver, Tilt, Stonerproof, Skanna, Space Manoeuvres, and Globe. Now based in Los Angeles, John has recently released "Dirty Nails and Vapour Trails," the debut artist album from Quivver – over 14 years after the release of the "Saxy Lady." Not only the producer, John also sings all the tracks on the CD.

Sonny J Interview - Interview with Sonny J
While the internet is full of people making mashups, it's rare to find a legal and licensed CD that is primarily based on samples of other people's music. Sonny J's "Disastro" is just about as random of an electronic music CD as you could imagine. Listening to it, there is simply no way to imagine what will come next. Sonny J's talent is finding seemingly random records found in second hand record shops and blending them into sonic masterpieces reminiscent of Fatboy Slim and Mylo.

Mike Rizzo Interview - Interview with Mike Rizzo
With mixshows on XM, Pulse 87, Music Choice, and iPartyRadio, Mike Rizzo's skills for finding and breaking dance records drive the energy of his mixes. In 2008, Mike has rebooted his career with a string of high profile remixes (Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Danity Kane, and Usher) and a new A&R position for startup label NY2London records. Who knows what's next for the family guy from Jersey?

Martijn ten Velden Interview - Interview with Martijn ten Velden
Martijn ten Velden is touring the US for the very first time. Though this is definitely not the first time you have heard of him. Paired with Mark Knight, the team pumped out over fifty remixes over a short 3 year period for everyone from Steve Lawler and Shapeshifters to Natasha Bedingfield. Going solo, Martijn released a hugely successful Toolroom Knight mixed compilation and continues to produce and remix extensively. Will his recent move from UK to Dubai change his sound?

Peter Hook (of New Order) Interview - Interview with Peter Hook (of New Order)
New Order recently released "Live in Glasgow," a live performance DVD remastered and edited hands-on by band members Peter Hook and Stephen Morris. With the rare opportunity to speak with an electronic music legend, we chatted with bassist Peter Hook about the live experience, the roots of Joy Division, the current crop of electronic bands they have influenced, and of course- the future.

Nick Terranova and Austin Leeds - Nervous Nitelife Interview
The mixed compilation series Nervous Nitelife focuses both on genres (Electro Sweat, Summer Clubbing) and location (Miami). Bringing the Nervous Nitelife series to Las Vegas, Austin Leeds and Nick Terranova teamed up for a dirty, sexy, and housey CD/DVD compilation. Having produced or remixed half of the tracks in the mix, Nick and Austin definitely show that they are the real deal.

Shapeshifters Interview - Interview with the Shapeshifters (aka Shape:UK)
The Shapeshifters, or Shape:UK as they are known in the US, broke out onto international scene with "Lola's Theme," one of those rare club records that enter the mainstream consciousness yet stays true to the club roots. A string of commercial hits followed – Back to Basics, Incredible, and Sensitivity for major label EMI. The duo, Max Reich and Simon Marlin, have gone back to their underground and noctural roots and signed to house heavyweight Defected Records for their future releases.

George Morel Interview - Interview with George Morel
Morel's Groove is a name under which you've danced to tracks from George Morel. The New York native, now based in Miami, travels the world bringing his hands-in-the air thumping and tech-house sounds to packed dancefloors. For 2008, he's planning a major reboot to his label Groove On with monthly releases of new music and rereleases of back catalog.

Matthew Dekay Interview - Interview with Matthew Dekay
A classically-trained musician turned DJ/Producer – what a refreshing change. In this time when so many DJs hire engineers to become producers, its nice to see a guy who actually does his own work. With his DK Recordings label and massively successful Trousy mixed compilation, Matthew is one of those rare artists who can step outside the studio and find the best music to play and release. Watch for his new collaborations with Sander Kleinenberg.

Don Diablo - 2008 Interview - Signs Global 360 Deal With Sony/BMG
Is Don Diablo the next Tiesto? With the ink drying on a new global SonyBMG 360 deal which provides artistic freedom and the structure to break him internationally, the Dutch triple threat might just be the next Dutch dance superstar. Following a lineage that includes Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Fedde Le Grand, and Ferry Corsten, it's clear that the Netherlands breeds talent unlike anywhere else.

Gabriel and Dresden 2008 Interview
As a team, Gabriel & Dresden have worked together for seven years producing, remixing, and DJing. Their list of accomplishments is quite impressive - producing the international club smash Motorcycle "As the Rush Comes," remixing the works of Paul Oakenfold, Way Out West, Madonna, and Tiesto, achieving #20 on the DJ Magazine list, and winning the International Dance Music Awards for Best DJ two years in a row. After WMC this year, the two have decided to take a break and work on solo projects.

Sasha - 2008 Interview - Sasha and Digweed 2008 Spring Tour
Sasha and Digweed are back together, touring the states for a Spring Club tour. Launching at Mansion for Winter Music Conference and hitting 21 cities before climaxing a month later at Coachella, this is the first time the duo has teamed up for a tour since Delta Heavy. Always the prolific producer, watch out for Sasha to release an EP of his Emfire tracks and a new Involver album in 2008.

Danny Howells - Dig Deeper Interview with Danny Howells
Frustrated with the cookie-cutter two-hour sets that he is often forced to play at bigger clubs, Danny Howells revolted and created his own party – Dig Deeper – as a venue for him to explore longer sets. With the stamina to do up to 12-hour sets, Danny will be bringing Dig Deeper party back to South Beach for Winter Music Conference this year. Known for his mixed CDs as well as productions, Danny is planning new productions and a new mixed CD this summer.

Dave Seaman Interview - Interview with Dave Seaman
Brothers in Rhythm. MixMag. Stress Records... Dave Seaman's role in the evolution of modern dance music is as epic as one of the classic Brothers in Rhythm productions. With a catalog of over 20 mixed CD compilations, Dave also runs the credible independent dance label Audio Therapy. His latest Renaissance Masters Series set features intense tracks from Josh Gabriel, Wally Lopez, Sasha, and Underworld.

Digital Dog Interview - Interview with Digital Dog (aka Jack Rokka)
Those crazy Brits always have several pseudonyms. You may know Steve Cornish and Nick Mace as Digital Dog, Jack Rokka, or Elek-tro Junkies. Three different names and three different sounds. As Digital Dog, they've remixed the likes of Armand Van Helden, Cascada, and Ultra Nate with an electro edge. Locked in the studio and only occasionally leaving to DJ at their residencies, the two produce incredible dance music that sounds great in the club and on the radio.
